On the edge of the Industrial Park in Nitra, based on our conceptual master plan, a Pantera park Business District is gradually growing. Although the intention of the investor Nitra Invest was slowed down by the pandemic, the area is already taking on a more concrete form. Hornbach is the first store to open here, covering more than a tenth of the total area of 27 hectares.
The popular hobby shop will offer Nitra residents and surrounding residents easy access via the R1 highway. Unlike the previously built stores of Hornbach, residents will be able to enjoy a new design concept. The building got a newer, more modern look. The changes affected both the outer shell and the inner layout. Unlike older concepts, the staff facilities are located directly above the main entrance, not at the back of the building.
Unlike older stores, the new store has active cooling. The building will primarily use up electricity produced from solar energy. Own photovoltaic power plant will provide the building with energy self-sufficiency. Thanks to the composition of solar panels on the roof of the building, Hornbach can produce electricity with the output up to 499.9 kWp.
It is the first building of this chain in Slovakia which draws electricity from renewable sources.
Electricity from the photovoltaic power plant produced on sunny days can also be used by charging stations for electric vehicles of the visitors.
“In addition to the expected return on this investment, which should be less than 10 years, we are generating a significant environmental aspect that will be beneficial for us all.”

Hornbach Nitra – 5 years of hard work
At ATRIOS, we helped to create the new Hornbach, as can be said, from the greenfield. We found a suitable parcel for the client and prepared an architectural study for the Pantera park Business District. We have become a partner in all phases of the project, from the planning permission, EIA, building permit, tender for the construction contractor to project management and supervision of realization.
The construction was completed and handed over at the beginning of 2022, the store Hornbach was opened in March 2022.
